QCC AG Highlights: 2012

2012 saw the celebration of three generations of Spanish painters, the return of a dear friend,

the emergence of a new friend, a remarkable array of African headgear, and last, but not least,

an amazing fantasy art exhibit.

QCC AG Highlights: 2010

This delicate vessel, displayed at the QCC Art Gallery in 2010, is over 4000 years old.

From ancient Chinese vessels to post-expressionist musings, 2010 was an eclectic year for the QCC Art Gallery. The Gallery's largest installation to date, as well as the verdant, pastoral depictions of a former faculty member also appeared.

QCC Art Gallery Garden

As noted in several blog posts previously, the QCC Art Gallery Garden is a lush, verdant and surprising place. It is comprised of Alumni Walk, an historic lawn, a great view (especially from the pergola), and sculptures...modern and classic...in both the Eastern and Western Traditions.

Looking Up To Wenzhi Zhang

Born in China, Wenzhi Zhang has displayed work in prestigious public and private collections, including the National Art Museum of China, the Malaysia National Art Museum, the Norway National Museum of Art, and the Korean Palace Kiln Museum among others. Wenzhi has also lectured internationally, written several textbooks on Ceramics, and currently teaches Ceramics at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, China.

Pictured here are a smattering of her works that are now part of the QCC Art Gallery's permanent collection,
and these can be enjoyed freely by strolling about the QCC Sculpture Garden.

Cultures at QCC: Mongolia

World Harmony at its new location on the QCC-CUNY campus

This wonderful work, authored by acclaimed Mongolian artist and QCC Art Gallery collaborator Chaolun Baatar, has been moved from it's original place of honor across the North-face Quad nearer the Student Union and Technology Buildings where it will garner more well-deserved attention.

As you may recall, it was originally on display at the United Nations where Executive Director

Faustino Quintanilla delivered an address and is now part of the QCC Art Gallery's permanent collection.

Cultures at QCC: Taiwan

Above you see a few of the grand works from Taiwan that have recently graced the QCC Art Gallery.

Though the exhibit has past, it is not likely to be the last, as many fine works from Formosa have appeared at the QCC Art Gallery in recent years.

Rewoven Removed

Above you see Wave by Wen Fu Yu as it recently appeared at the QCC Art Gallery.

As with the rest of the amazing art of the Rewoven exhibit, it has recently been removed, but doubtless, something else will probably be hanging outside or protruding from the QCC Art Gallery pretty soon.

Remember: Marlene Tseng Yu

It was some time ago that Marlene Tseng Yu's work appeared at the QCC Art Gallery. Nevertheless, it marked the start of something significant.......the QCC Art Gallery as champion of modern Chinese art.

Marlene came to the U.S. from Taiwan for her MFA degree and has resided in SoHo ever since. Her Forces of Nature exhibit consisted of works as large as 12x30 feet, covering entire walls of the QCC Art Gallery.
