Gelis Staros was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to an immigrant family with Russian, Romanian and British roots. As a teenager, he began to frequent the workshops of artists, ultimately apprenticing and studying under several of them.
Staros' art is full of mystery and surprise, ever evolving and experimenting. It mixes media to explore classic and modern themes. And his Close to the Edge exhibit was well-received when it appeared at the QCC Art Gallery a few years ago.
