Franz Liszt wasn't the only one to rhapsodize about his native Hungary. In fact, the QCC Art Gallery hosted a noted surrealist from that corner of the globe not long ago. In fact, the work appeared twice and the QCC Art Gallery Press produced the accompanying tome.

QCC AG Highlights: 2013

Holocaust survivor Rosemary Koczy's work is part of the QCC AG Permanent Collection
and the QCC AG Press has published all three volumes of her memoirs.

It isn't every gallery that can claim it had three exhibits of vast cultural significance on display within one calendar year. In fact, very few could claim one. But the QCC Art Gallery achieved this distinction in 2013, thanks to the bravura efforts of its Executive Director, Faustino Quintanilla.

2012 saw the celebration of three generations of Spanish painters, the return of a dear friend,

the emergence of a new friend, a remarkable array of African headgear, and last, but not least,

an amazing fantasy art exhibit.

QCC AG Highlights: 2011

2011 was another banner year for the QCC Art Gallery, displaying works both varied and of exquisite quality. Modernism, Pop-Art and Fantasy predominated, expressed in a range of media and motifs, it is a year worth remembering.

Peter Gric @ QCC

Peter Gric was one of a number of prominent artists to display their work in the Visionaries exhibit that appeared at the QCC Art Gallery a few summers ago. As should be no surprise, his reputation for skill and creativity has continued its upward ascent. Perhaps someday his work will visit with us again.

Sita

When New Light On Early Art Forms of the Indian Subcontinent appeared at the QCC Art Gallery during the warm months of 2013, several lovely renderings of Sita, consort of Rama, were displayed.


The exhibit remains one of my all-time favorites, and it's heartening to see that many others see the value in beauty and story telling, which is indeed timeless.

QCC Art Gallery Garden

As noted in several blog posts previously, the QCC Art Gallery Garden is a lush, verdant and surprising place. It is comprised of Alumni Walk, an historic lawn, a great view (especially from the pergola), and sculptures...modern and classic...in both the Eastern and Western Traditions.

Cultures at QCC: Taiwan

Above you see a few of the grand works from Taiwan that have recently graced the QCC Art Gallery.

Though the exhibit has past, it is not likely to be the last, as many fine works from Formosa have appeared at the QCC Art Gallery in recent years.

Gurjinder Singh's Procession

Indian Art has made more than one appearance, as well as more than one incarnation, at the QCC Art Gallery. Whether it was ultra modern, infused with a globalized sensibility, or ancient, classic and evocatively erotic, it never ceased to inspire and excite.

Visit the Director, Jesus, and the Angels

African Jesus is a large sculpture that is presently on display in the Director's Office.

The QCC Art Gallery is run by a wonderful character named Faustino Quintanilla, who can usually be found hard at work in his second floor offices and he could really use a break. So, the next time you are in the vicinity of the Gallery, step in, enjoy the art, and ascend the stairs to meet the man that makes it all possible.

Jeronimo Lopez's work may be returning to the QCC Art Gallery.

Rewoven Removed

Above you see Wave by Wen Fu Yu as it recently appeared at the QCC Art Gallery.

As with the rest of the amazing art of the Rewoven exhibit, it has recently been removed, but doubtless, something else will probably be hanging outside or protruding from the QCC Art Gallery pretty soon.

Cultures at QCC: Hungarian

With a nod to its Asiatic roots and its profound entrenchment in twentieth century European modernism, Hungarian Art is unique in all the world. And so it is fitting that the QCC Art Gallery, another singular institution, should display works by masters like József Jakovits and many others.

Remember: Marlene Tseng Yu

It was some time ago that Marlene Tseng Yu's work appeared at the QCC Art Gallery. Nevertheless, it marked the start of something significant.......the QCC Art Gallery as champion of modern Chinese art.

Marlene came to the U.S. from Taiwan for her MFA degree and has resided in SoHo ever since. Her Forces of Nature exhibit consisted of works as large as 12x30 feet, covering entire walls of the QCC Art Gallery.
