Predators and prey are often portrayed as enemies or, at the very least, opposites. But without a thriving population of prey, would predators survive? And if predators overpopulated and overwhelmed their prey, would they not perish?
Well, a sophisticated, mysterious and interactive relationship is obviously at play here. And like so many naturalists and mathematicians, artists, especially those within hunting cultures, understood this and often identified quite closely with the creatures upon whom their very existence depended.
See some of the most obvious evidence of this identification when Carving Life appears at the QCC Art Gallery.
