The Plague Doctor at left is really nothing of the sort. In fact, it is our friend and colleague from QCC-CUNY, Javier Cambre.
Javier is an accomplished artist as well as an Associate Professor in the Art and Design Department at QCC-CUNY, and as you can see, our friend occasionally explores the dark side of this veil of tears, and via his work, sheds light upon it for all to see. Yet, the subjects of his work often retain an air of mystery and aura of inscrutability that renders them irresistible.
Javier's paintings, sculptures, videos, and photographs have been displayed in some of the most prestigious venues, including the Whitney, El Museo del Barrio, and most recently, our own QCC Art Gallery.
