Art Runs in the Family Imperato

Ellie Imperato confers with Faustino Quintanilla.
Eleanor Imperato, "Ellie" to her frends, is a poet, author and gifted photographer, as you will see if you attend her coming exhibit:

Porte della memoria: Ricordi del Mio Paese
Doors of Memory: Remembering My Birthplace
Opening: October 8, 2015

She's also the matriarch of a wonderful family that has brought much to the QCC campus and particularly to the QCC Art Gallery.

Her husband, Dr. Pascal James Imperato is a distinguished African art historian and ethnographer, whose Bundu Sowei headpieces enchanted visitors to the QCC Art Gallery in 2012. He also collaborated with his son and fellow Africanist, Dr. Gavin Imperato, to produce the accompanying Bundu book, which is still available online via the QCC Art Gallery Gift Shop.

And in 2014, the good Doctor collaborated with his other son Austin Imperato, who is himself an art scholar. Together they curated the impressive Victor Sow exhibit at the QCC Art Gallery, and, along with other family members, were kind enough to pose for the photo you see below.

So, many thanks to the Family Imperato for all that they have meant to our community, and for all those whose lives they've touched via their talent, generosity and humanity.
