Ultra Violet Has Passed

Ultra Violet with Andy Warhol
Isabelle Collin Dufresne, better known to the world as Ultra Violet, was born in 1935 in La Tronche, France, near Grenoble, to an upper-middle-class family. But her rebellious nature and creativity led her to New York, where she spent much of her adult life, and where she passed away on Sunday.

Along the way, she appeared in movies, wrote books, and produced pioneering work in a number of creative media, some of which has been exhibited at the QCC Art Gallery and featured at this blog and the Mojo blog.

In fact, the QCC Art Gallery Press was pleased to publish her most recent work, The Violet Book, a retrospective of her recent life and work.

So to the family and fans of UV, let us express our sincere condolences. She was a unique lady, who produced unique work, and she was a good friend to many. Thankfully, we can count ourselves among them.
