H. R. Giger, famous Swiss painter, sculptor and set designer, who showed some of his phantasmagorical work just two summers ago at the QCC Art Gallery, died on Monday in Zurich. He was 74.
He is best remembered for his Oscar-winning work on the Alien series of movies and for the many works contained in his own museum in Switzerland.
Those of us who experienced his work in-person can count ourselves fortunate. His talent was of a unique variety, and he will be missed.
