Gary Schulze aka Chief Gary

Honorary Paramount Chief Gary Schulze
Our dear friend Gary Schulze served with the first group of Peace Corps Volunteers to go to Sierra Leone in the 1960's. It was then that his interest in African Art was ignited. But his interest in education, compassion and charity are intrinsic to the man and shine in his every deed.

Currently, Gary serves on the boards of QCC-CUNY, The Friends of Sierra Leone, and The Magic Penny, an NGO which builds schools in Sierra Leone.

In 2013, Gary was installed as Honorary Paramount Chief Pieh Gbabyior Caulker I of Kagboro Chiefdom in Sierra Leone, and in 2014, Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma presented Gary with the country’s highest civilian award, The Order of the Rokel, with the rank of “Officer” for his “tremendous contributions to history, education and culture.”
